Jason CarterPresident

Jason Carter founded Carter Numismatics in 1996 and has since shaped the company into one of the most well respected rare coin firms in the United States.  With a wide knowledge on all U.S. coinage from colonial through 20th century, Jason also specializes in patterns, territorials, high-end type, bust, seated and barber rarities.   He is also well versed in all types of U.S. gold coins.

Widely recognized as one of the top graders in the country, Jason was the youngest member ever admitted to the Professional Numismatists Guild, a nonprofit group of the world’s top rare coin and paper money experts. He is an American Numismatic Association life member, a supporter of the Industry Council for Tangible Assets and a member of the Oklahoma Numismatic Association.

A Tulsa native who has actively traded coins since age 12, Jason is married with three children.  He enjoys music, traveling, history and playing the drums.


John Morgan – Vice President

John Morgan joined Carter Numismatics in 1999.  John’s primary responsibility with the company is as a coin salesman.  He also handles the firm’s accounting, marketing, website and other “behind-the-scenes” efforts.

A 1998 graduate of the University of Oklahoma, John is a craft beer fanatic and die-hard Sooner football fan, he enjoys discussing politics and reading in his free time.  John is a Tulsa native and is married with three children.


Lance Hipps  Senior Numismatist

A longtime veteran of the coin show circuit, Lance comes from one of the more legendary families in rare coins.  His father Ed Hipps was a pioneer in the rare coin industry.  Lance has been involved in rare coins for more nearly 20 years and brings with him a passion for collector coins of all types, especially bust and seated material.

Lance is a proud native Texan who roots for the Dallas Cowboys, the Dallas Mavericks and of course the Texas Longhorns.  Lance enjoys playing basketball and travelling in his free time.


Daniel Mitchell – Director of Operations

Daniel Mitchell serves Carter Numismatics as its Director of Operations after a long stint in the corporate world. He manages the company’s IT infrastructure, day to day operations within the office as well as supporting many other departments including accounting and inventory control.

A Tulsa native who is married with two children, Daniel spends his free-time behind his drum set or working on his 1969 Camaro.


Jake Auernhammer – Office Assistant

Helping out around the office wherever he’s needed, be it shipping and receiving, office maintenance and even the occasional coin show, Jake is an integral part of the Carter Numismatics machine.


John RogersNumismatist

A full-time student at the University of Kansas, John works part-time for Carter Numismatics as a buyer.  Attending both regional and major coin shows John is passionate about rare coins and hopes to make a career out of numismatics after graduation.
